Few resorts on earth are as perfectly suited for a socially-distanced vacation as Mar al Cielo, a private property exclusively for two guests at a time. The retreat is a paradise for nature lovers, with two kilometers of hiking trails, access to secluded beaches, and a wealth of opportunities for birdwatching and incredible whale sightings during migration season. The most devoted birdwatchers should be sure to take part in the Birding & Brunch program, beginning with a professional guided tour of the area in search of native species followed by dining atop Oceanfront Palapa Lounge, an open-air dining space with a spectacular view of the shore.

"Take a shower outside… There are getaways that feel like you're the only person around - and then there is Mar al Cielo, 11 acres of paradise that's truly yours for the night (or three). Perched on top of a beachfront cliff just north of San Pancho, near the town of Lo de Marcos, the two-person resort is situated in an eco-reserve of groomed jungle trails with over 300 bird species (and a few portly armadillos), a private beach and a hilltop residence with hammocks, sofas, an open-air kichen and, yes, a private outdoor shower..."

"Where we stayed… Mar al Cielo Eco-Retreat in Riviera Nayarit. We enjoyed every second at this enchanting place. Our stay came at the end of an incredibly stressful working week, so this felt like the absolute antithesis. Owners Carlos and Jodi couldn't have made us feel more welcome and were so chilled; we sipped on margaritas and looked out over the bay, where they had recently watched a whale giving birth to it's baby. We took a stroll through the land, which has been left to grow into an incredible eco reserve, butterflies pepper the air like confetti at a wedding and when you are tucked away in your private hill top casita you feel entirely cut off from the world."

This episode takes us to the coastline of Rivera Nayarit in Mexico where we experience the diversity of this fantastic region from whales and birds of the Marieta Islands to the beautiful birds of the mainland's coast.

"Carlos and Jodi Moran have taken advantage of this wonderful view to create Mar al Cielo to live in harmony with nature. In a typical coast style, one can play Robinson Crusoe, admiring the horizon, pelicans, eagles, taking its flight. Mar al Cielo is made for those in love with ecotourism, a fashionable word, but here it is justified by the consciousness of the owners and the blend comfort with the preservation of the environment. With the sea and the beach below, one can walk in the jungle surrounding Mar al Cielo and appreciate the different views of the coast around the property."
